Checking out - Schlemmerfilet - Gourmetfilet from the box

Product Nr. 6

Today I'll review a product that I never ever expected to be like on the box. And I was right ;)

So when I started dreaming about eating fish I thought it would be a good idea to also test one of the from the box fish products. Went to the store and found this

The Schlemmer - Gourmet - Filet from the box.

Just unpack....

....and put it in the oven as it says on the box 35-40 Minutes at 200 degrees with air re-circulation.

And then you wait ...

After 40 minutes, you think it's done ... you think! :) you open the oven, get the thingy out and realize it is "full" of water (about 1 cm)....and the crispy topping is not crispy at all, it is jelly like. The whole thing reminds me of brains.

So I had to drain the water out and put it back into the oven, another 20 minutes.

After the 20 minutes, surprise: there is again water in it ...arggghh. I think all these frozen things have 50% water in them. Enough cooking, let's get it out and see how it looks like...

Ehm, sure...exactly like on the box! NOT

Here again for comparison

The taste was pretty ok, it was not bad, the topping gave the whole a spicy flavor.

Overall it took too long to bake, had too much water, had to take it 2 times out to drain it and the looks of it, oh well. It gets plus points for the taste though because there I had nothing to object.

Seven out of ten!

Checking out - yet another baguette - Baked baguettes fresh from the cold box

Product Nr. 5

Many of you might expect yet another product failure but this one is not one of that kind.
Actually I think it is important to test and post also the ones that are not just disappointing us.

Different food products might as well show us the truth on the box, so you know what you are buying. And this is one of them. To tell you frankly, I did not expect this.

So here it is, the "still cold and unbaked" baguette exactly how you see it in the different store's freezers.

I don't find it to be over exaggerated. Do you?

So now let's take a look inside.

The 6 baguettes come in packs of 2, which I find very nicely done, because, one cannot eat 6 at a time and if they were not packed in plastic (which I am not so fund of but what else can you get besides plastic?) and you would have to put them back into the box and into the freezer they would get a freezer smell. So this is was a practical idea they had.
Let's unpack it again

I'd say it's still ....OK... for something frozen.

Now put them into the oven exactly as it says on the box....and put some extra 10- 15 Minutes just to be sure ;)

And then, they are done..TADAAAA

If we add a little more saturation and brighness to the picture, it will look almost as on the box ;)

The taste was alright, it's not spectacular and it's not bad and this is why this product gets 7 out of 10 stars!

Checking out - The Apfelstrudel!

Product Nr. 4

Today I am reviewing the Apfelstrudel inside the box.

Before we start, here a little something about the Apfelstrudel for all to know from our dear fried Wiki:

Apple strudel (GermanApfelstrudelCzechŠtrúdl) is a traditional Viennese strudel, a popular pastry in Austria and in many countries in Europe that once belonged to the Austro-Hungarian empire (1867–1918).

So you spend another day in the store buying all kind of things, food, and you think it would be nice to have some desert. So you start looking for deserts and find the Apfelstrudel with it's appealing picture.

Looking good, looking yummy!! I'll take it and walk quickly home to get all done.

Arriving home you start unpacking the yummy thingy and shove it into the oven exactly how it says on the box:

And you wait .... and the 40 minutes pass and you realize it is not done ... maybe your oven is broken or not strong enough...put another 30 minutes.

Good, aaah.... finally done! ....a little something spilled on the side but it's ok, we eat that too.

And now let's compare the inside with the box!

And now you feel like a sucker .... what??? Where is my Apfelstrudel from the box????????

I can tell you ....it was NEVER there!

The taste is pretty ok... but ... .... Sucker! They got me again with their yummy looking picture, I bought it and this is all that matters to them. They only want to sell their product, no matter what. SAD. 4 stars out of 10 only because it was crispy on the outside, and I like that!

Checking out – Croissants with cream filling! Or how I like to call it – The Croissant Conspiracy!!!

Product Nr. 3

I think I speak for many people in this world who feel betrayed by croissants with cream fillings.
Every time you go to the store you see these croissants standing there on the shelves, winking with their cream filling flowing out of them. Like in this picture below:

Do you see how much chocolate cream there is? You can probably taste it right now just by looking at it … yummm!

Like before, I don’t wanna name any names, because THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!

Here 2 more braggers from the internet, not my pictures.

It’s a big conspiracy out there against us, the croissants with cream filling lovers!

So you cannot resist and buy it. Get home quickly, unwrap it and then ....you find yourself with this in your hand ... and think...what the...? Not even the outside looks like on the picture:

Well, you think that whats on the inside is important, not how it looks like, right?
The same as with people. So have a bite

Oh but ...where is it???? I already bit 1/3rd out of it.

Let's eat some more, half way it's starting to look like something ...

Now let's come to the end, ah... there is a little bit more cream.

Aaaaaand done. The trick is to find out on which end you will actually find the filling. Depending where it went when the cream has been injected.

The taste is pretty ok, nothing spectacular and it will get 5 out of 10 stars just because the wrap-up does not reflect the reality.

I as a consumer would have been much happier to know the reality from the beginning and I would have still bought it, just because they would have been honest.

Please show me the perfect cream filled croissant if you ever found one! Put and end to the croissant conspiracy ;)
